St Andrews Biology rated top for research impact

The impact of research undertaken in Biological Sciences in St Andrews has been rated top in Scotland and second across the UK as a whole by the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, which judges the research quality of all academic disciplines in UK higher education institutions.

Overall 84% of Biology’s research was judged to be “world leading” or “Internationally excellent”. This is a great result for the School and it is particularly pleasing to see the value of our more applied research in Marine Science and Biotechnology recognised with a top rating.
