Dave Haas is currently the CEO and co-founder of FaunaLabs, a company he started after earning his Ph.D. in Marine Science and Conservation at Duke University and Duke University Marine Lab in 2021. He is a National Geographic Explorer and has extensive field experience involving non-invasive tagging of whales and dolphins. His ongoing research focus investigates whale and dolphin ecophysiology using a new, non-invasive multi-sensor physio-logging tag called the FaunaTag. Designed, invented, and engineered by Dr. Haas and Sam Kelly, the FaunaTag is being adapted for use in terrestrial animal contexts and improved for use with wild whales and dolphins at their startup, FaunaLabs. Prior to completing his PhD at Duke, Dave served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Worldwide Game Studios at PopCap, the makers of Bejeweled and Plants vs. Zombies.
