The term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ has become increasingly more commonplace in our professional vocabulary, with many industries adopting newly developed techniques and improved computational capabilities to drive innovation. The Data Lab is Scotland’s innovation centre for data and AI. Data Labs mission is to help Scotland maximise value from data by supporting academic, public and industry communities. In this talk, Thanos Tsiaras, Data Scientist at The Data Lab, will look to cut through the hype, discuss the current uses of AI, and explore their applicability to the marine science community. Fraser Macdonald, DataFest Delivery Director & Project Development Manager at The Data Lab will look to cover the role of The Data Lab within Scotland’s growing data science and AI community and various support mechanisms available through the innovation centre
