Associate Lecturer (Education Focussed)

I am interested in quantifying evolutionary, ecological and behavioural responses to changes in environmental conditions. I am particularly interested in understanding how environmental heterogeneity caused by global change affects species ecological responses. My research combines experiments and field observations to quantify intergenerational effects of environmental change using tropical fish.

Research Overview:

I am a teaching-focused marine biologist with research interests in the evolutionary, ecological, and behavioural effects of environmental heterogeneity on life history traits of tropical fishes. In addition, I am passionate about teaching and I am particularly interested in finding novel and interactive ways to communicate science and empower students to learn and research.

I am always available to discuss future opportunities/projects/supervisions.

Current projects include,

1) effect of diver’s disturbance in tropical fish assemblage and benthic composition

2) patterns of symbiotic relationship between cleaner shrimp and client fish

3) use of virtual reality to enhance teaching experience

4) impact of tourism on fish escape behaviour

5) temporal changes in functional diversity in elasmobranchs in the North Sea

6) ontogenetic shifts in memory/learning in Trinidadian guppies
